For further proof that humanity is approaching the 2012 singularity, take Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men (and the growing number of similar bands), who somehow tripped the cultural hyperdrive and jumped from international-unknown to selling-out-Albany status in little more than weeks. The sextet sold out Jillian’s handily on April 10 after first landing on American soil for last month’s SXSW. The amazing part of this is not the speed of their ascent so much as the quality of the indie pop they delivered, proving that the hype created through viral culture is far more reliable than the former corporate one-hit-wonder machine. Next week’s Fun. set at Northern Lights should make a similar case.
