Drake

by The Staff on June 14, 2012

Aubrey Drake Graham got his showbiz start acting in the Canadien TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation but a microscope and a simple family tree should have told us that music was in his DNA. The platinum-selling, Juno award-winning, Grammy-nominated 25-year-old rapper is the nephew of slap-bass pioneer Larry Graham and Al Green songwriter Teenie Hodges, not to mention the son of Jerry Lee Lewis drummer Dennis Graham.

Like so many in the rap game these days, Drake rode a series of star-studded mixtapes to superstardom before releasing his debut album Thank Me Later in 2010. Naturally, it debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. Last year’s Take Care reaffirmed Drake’s position as one of contemporary rap’s most critically-acclaimed, topping plenty of year-end lists—and selling a butt-load of copies all the while.

For this, the Club Paradise Tour, Drake will be joined by Waka Flocka Flame and J. Cole—no slouches themselves—as well as Meek Mill, 2 Chainz and French Montana.

Drake will play SPAC (Saratoga Spa State Park, Saratoga Springs) on Thursday (June 14) at 7 PM. Tickets start at $45. Call 587-3330 for more info.
