BASILICA HUDSON, FRIDAY
Icon Eye is documentarian Tony Lowe’s portrait of an unlikely musical collaboration: that of psychedelic noise artists Sun Araw, M. Geddes Gengras (young, white Americans) and veteran Jamaican vocal group the Congos. Icon Give Thank is the fruit of their labor, an inspired melange of drippy electronics and four-part harmonies, translated through a haze of ganja smoke and daringly released by RVNG Intl.’s FRKWYS series. Although the record has received considerable acclaim, the group haven’t undergone any touring, so this event is something special. Following a screening of the film, M. Geddes Gengras will answer questions and perform a solo set. (July 6, 7 PM, $10, 110 Front St., Hudson, 822-1050)
