No doubt, the members of Slayer, Anthrax and Motörhead are getting old—although, weirdly, Motörhead bassist Lemmy doesn’t seem to have aged a day since the Battle of Bull Run. But this multi-band metal bill, sponsored by legal stimulant Rockstar Energy Drink, was something of a return to the glory days when clubs would jam as many of these acts together as possible for a big sweaty mess. Only the club on July 31 was SPAC. And it wasn’t only the geezers who were in on the fun. The afternoon featured two stages and a lineup including Slipknot, Asking Alexandria, the Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying and more.
