“Experimental dream pop delivered through a shoegaze haze” was the way one reviewer described Native Speaker, the new record from Montreal-based Braids. And that’s a lot of artsy signifiers for one sentence, but trust us on this one. Despite the list of “important bands” that these guys get compared to, one anecdote from their bio fully substantiates these claims. When Raphaelle Standell-Preston says the band discovered Animal Collective’s Feels at 17, they would “go to parties and end up just sitting in the car and listening to Feels instead of going inside.” If their show is anything like that car party, then we’re in. Hand Habits and Railbird will support. (Sept. 19, 8 PM, $11, 17 New Scotland Ave., Albany, 432-6572)
