Patterson Hood and the Downtown Rumblers

by Metroland Staff on September 20, 2012

Patterson Hood is best known as the mind and voice behind the Athens, Ga., -based Drive-By Truckers, but if you’re a real music geek and Southern rock aficionado, you’ll recognize that last name from Muscle Shoals studio founder David Hood, who produced legendary records by the Rolling Stones, Willy Nelson and Cher. Son Patterson is working toward an equally iconic career, with a new solo record, called Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance, and a big national tour. On this first leg, he’ll be joined by his band the Downtown Rumblers, who sound a little bit like a posse you might encounter in one of his hardscrabble story songs. (Sept. 20, 8 PM, $32, 405 Columbia St., Hudson, 828-4800)
