The Magnetic Fields

by Metroland Staff on October 25, 2012

Stephin Merritt is back at the synthesizer, and his legendary indie band the Magnetic Fields are back at Club Helsinki. After releasing a trilogy of synth-free records, the band have returned to their iconic sound with this year’s Love at the Bottom of the Sea. This will be their first tour stop of the fall, following an appearance at All Tomorrow’s Parties in England this March, an invitation the band received from Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum, a performer who clearly picked up a thing or two from Merritt. They’ll be joined by Kenny Melman. (Oct. 25, 8 PM, $30, 405 Columbia St., Hudson, 828-4800)
