Eduardo C. Corral’s first book of poetry, Slow Lightning, won the 2011 Yale Series of Younger Poets competition. Publishers Weekly praised his mastery of technique in this volume: “Corral rarely repeats a form: beyond sonnets, there are clipped, blocklike texts, page-long chants, lines squeezed down to nothing.”
Melissa Febos (left) is a former dominatrix turned writer and teacher. Elle magazine’s critic wrote of her memoir, Whip Smart, that “Febos’ journeying into the darkest corners of both her and others’ minds is entertaining and enlightening; there are weird, eye-popping, sad, hilarious, and all-too-human episodes and encounters on virtually every page.”
Frequency North will present Eduardo C. Corral and Melissa Febos tonight (Thursday, Nov. 15) at 7:30 PM in the Standish Rooms at the College of Saint Rose Athletics and Events Center (420 Western Ave., Albany). Admission is free. For more info, call 454-5102.
