Ra Ra Riot

by Metroland Staff on December 6, 2012

Back in 2006, Ra Ra Riot could be found entertaining peers playing house shows and venues in the proximity of their own Syracuse campus. Within six months of this initial formation, the baraque indie-pop group were a highlight at CMJ, receiving favorable live show reviews all around. Last month, Ra Ra Riot were back on the Syracuse campus, only this time to perform a weeklong residency teaching the music and music-business classes they took back in the day—oh, and to play a sold-out hometown gig. Their forthcoming album, Beta Love, out this January, marks a shift in lineup and style, leaning from baroque pop to synth pop.
