Steve Kimock and Bernie Worrell

by Metroland Staff on December 6, 2012

BEARSVILLE THEATER, FRIDAY

Jerry Garcia once called Steve Kimock his “favorite unknown guitar player.” This, of course, made Kimock quite known, at least in the Bay Area improv rock scene in the ’80s. Since then, he’s never quite burst into superstardom, but not for lack of chops. After founding proto-jamband Zero, he’created and dissolved one all-star lineup after the last, building a career on ever-new collaborative environments. His latest features Parliament Funkadelic keyboardist-composer Bernie Worrell—king of the Minimoog—and a rhythm section including Andy Hess and Wally Ingram, other somewhat-unknown heavyweights.
