The West Point Band’s Jazz Knights

by Metroland Staff on December 20, 2012

Wait, shouldn’t these guys be off manning a machine-gun turret, taking to-the-minute instruction from the president? We’ve seen those end-of-the-world movies. As the civilians panic, the military elite hold it together, valiently risking the safety of their own families to protect humankind at large. They don’t hole up to play Glenn Miller and Count Basie, that’s for sure. But who are we to question West Point intel? Maybe big-band swing is a classified weapon, calibrated to deflect solar radiation, alien mind rays or fire and brimstone. At any rate, this gig is free. (Dec. 21, 7 PM, free, 339 Central Ave., Albany, 465-5233)
