A long time ago, Guy Davis followed in the family business—his folks are Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee—and acted in movies and on TV. For the last decade and a half, however, Guy Davis has focused on telling stories through the blues. This journey has brought public acclaim, and respect in the blues community.
Davis’ latest album, The Adventures of Fishy Waters: In Bed With the Blues, is a full narrative about a traveling bluesman in the early 20th century. One critic praised it as “a thoughtful, engrossing, and absolutely believable look into life on the road in the Deep South prior to World War II.”
Moonshine Holler, an “old-timey” Western Massachusetts duo featuring Bill Dillof and Paula Bradley, will open with a selection of “hillbilly blues, ballads and barn-burning breakdowns.”
Guy Davis will perform Friday (Jan. 4) at 8 PM at Caffe Lena (47 Phila St., Saratoga Springs). Tickets are $18. For more info, call 583-0022.
