The Egg’s resident dance troupe, the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company, return to their home stage this weekend for one of their trademark collaborations with other artists and art forms. In the past, this has included site-specific performances in unusual spaces or amid iconic sculptures. For this show, the outside elements to be incorporated into Sinopoli’s expansive vision are “the visual sensitivity of artist Thom O’Connor’s prints” and the “striking talents of quilter Linda O’Connor.”
Last September, the Times Union’s Tresca Weinstein glowingly reviewed a Sinopoli troupe performance at Sage’s Opalka Gallery: “The evening was another example, among many, of Sinopoli’s inventive and flexible approach to dance. Wherever she unleashes her dancers . . . it’s worth watching.”
Sinopoli herself will give an artist prelude talk at 7:15 PM.
The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company will perform Saturday (Jan. 12) at 8 PM at the Egg (Empire State Plaza, Albany). Tickets are $24, $22 members. For more info, call 473-1845.
