Marshall Crenshaw

by Metroland Staff on January 10, 2013

THE VAN DYCK, SATURDAY

Marshall Crenshaw is a bit of a shapeshifter. Making his musical start as a John Lennon impersonator in Beatlemania, he’s also portrayed Buddy Holly in the film La Bamba and performed with the reunited MC5. In 2007, he channeled Johnny Cash to write the title song to the film Walk Hard. He’s best known, though, for his 1982 hit “Someday, Someway” and has released a fleet of records since then. His most recent was 2009’s Jaggedland, but he’s kept busy hosting a radio show of his record collection called The Bottomless Pit. (Jan. 12, 7 and 9:30 PM, $22, 237 Union St., Schenectady, 348-7999)
