The good folks at EMPAC are assuring everyone that Hot Box, the multimedia performance piece that will be presented tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday in Studio 2, will be “loud, dark, foggy, sweaty, and very live.”
As conceived by choreographer-visual artist Brian Rogers at New York’s Chocolate Factory, Hot Box blends a meticulously curated visual palette, presented as a series of jungle-like video images, with unpredictable live performance.
At the time of the show’s September 2012 premiere, Rogers told Time Out New York, “There’s a fair amount of randomness built into the technology and the sound that I’m making will be really different every night based on what happens. . . . I want it to feel like we’re rushing to get it done. I don’t want it to be an experience where we feel really confident.”
Hot Box will be presented tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 15) and Saturday (Feb. 16) at 8 PM in EMPAC’s Studio 2 (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy). Tickets are $18. For more info, call 276-3921.
