Cowboy Junkies are one of the most cherished bands to emerge from the college rock scene of the ’80s. Marked by the distinctively delicate voice of their frontwoman, Margo Timmins, along with sparse, languid instrumentation and a keen awareness for the right songs to cover (is it possible to sabotage “Sweet Jane”?), they gained praise from critics and accrued a fan base that has kept them going—without one breakup—for almost 30 years. They will be playing their seminal 1988 album, The Trinity Sessions, in its entirety along with new material and other favorites.
Cowboy Junkies will perform Saturday (March 2) at 7:30 PM at the Egg (Empire State Plaza). Tickets are $29.50. For more info, call 473-1061.
