Waylon Speed

by The Staff on March 20, 2013

Putnam Den, Friday

Burlington country-rockers Waylon Speed not-so-secretly long to be a classic country dream team made of Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. But, like anyone who’s anyone in the Burlington scene, they recorded their latest record Valance at the Barn, owned by Phish’s Trey Anastasio and debuted the thing at Nectar’s. So, you can count on the result being a little more Willie and a little less speed. The guys are blowing up right now, having opened for Elvis Costello, Reba McEntire, Grace Potter and Primus. The North and South Dakotas (formerly Headband Jack) will open. (March 22, 9 PM, $10, 63A Putnam St., Saratoga Springs, 584-8066)
