For the Japanese percussion ensemble Kodo, drumming is an integral part of living. Part of a larger group based on Japan’s Sado Island, Kodo have a “musical vision . . . based on living, learning and creating.”

Their memorable, dynamic performaces have made them world renowned, and they’re coming to Proctors on Friday evening.

As The New York Times wrote in regard to a typically superb 2001 show, with Kodo, “musical performance is mingled with arduous physical training and everyday life experiences. . . . If you are to perform at all in this uninhibited, athletic style, you can only perform joyously and all-out.”

Kodo will perform Friday (March 29) at 8 PM on the Mainstage at Proctors (432 State St., Schenectady). Tickets are $20-$60. For more info, call 346-6204.
