Youth Lagoon

by Metroland Staff on May 2, 2013

The term “psychedelic” has largely become a nostalgic genre tag for any music that includes larger than doctor-recommended doses of reverb, fuzz, etc. It’s rare, then, when an artist like Youth Lagoon (née Trevor Powers) comes along with something trully deserving of the adjective. His new album Wonderous Bughouse takes its title from an archaic term for an insane asylum and toes that fine line between metaphysical revery and schizophrenic abandonment. It’s experimental music in search of a truth beyond the freakout. He’ll bring his American tour through Northampton on Tuesday with duo Majical Cloudz.
