IN OTHER NEWS FROM ROUND LAKE We shall pass over the recent unpleasantness at the library and focus on a great three-day event at another Round Lake institution, the historic and beautiful Round Lake Auditorium (2 Wesley Ave., Round Lake). Tonight (Thursday, June 13) through Saturday (June 15), the Malta League of Arts will be hosting Arts Attitudes, their 4th Annual Art Exhibit and Reception. The featured artist is Regis Brodie, whose work will be joined by that of 36 other regional painters, photographers and sculptors. Tonight’s reception is from 6 to 8:30 PM, costs $20, and will feature champagne, hors d’oeuvres, live music and a silent auction. Tomorrow (Friday, June 14) the exhibit will be open from 4 to 8 PM, and Saturday (June 14) from 11 AM to 4 PM; admission Friday and Saturday is free. (But there won’t be any champagne.) For more info, visit maltaarts.org.
SEE SCHENECTADY FIRST You’ve caught a show a Proctors, sampled the shops and eateries on Jay Street, and wandered leisurely through the Stockade. But if you haven’t explored the GE Realty Plot neighborhood, you’re in for a treat. Established in 1899 by—you guessed it—General Electric, the GE Realty Plot was built as a place for GE’s best and brightest employees to live. The styles represent the refined tastes of that day’s middle class, and include Queen Anne, Federal and Colonial Revival homes. Now, you can explore the neighborhood on the Historic GE Realty Plot House and Garden Tour on June 22 from 11 AM-3 PM and June 23 from noon-4 PM. Tickets are $25 and are available through many of the tour sponsor’s locations, including Marty’s Hardware and online at Proctors’ site, proctors.org.
