Can’t Rain on the Parade

by Erin Pihlaja on June 13, 2013 · 1 comment

Capital Pride Week culminated on Sunday (June 9) with a parade through Center Square and a festival in Washington Park under sunny skies. All seemed to go off without a hitch, despite the attempts of a few protestors to dampen celebrations as they stood on the corner of Madison and Delaware Avenues shouting derogatory comments through bullhorns at those in and around the parade route.

Most who participated in the festivities laughed off the insults. One of the men, who identified himself as a Western New Yorker, shouted, “Repent sodomizers! Sinners, you’re wreaking havoc on your anuses and vaginas!” To which a passerby quipped, “Havoc? I wish.”
