Empire State Plaza, Wednesday

Fans of prog rock mainstays Kansas are often referred to as “Wheatheads,” yet the rising popularity of the gluten-free diet hasn’t seemed to affect the band’s staying power. This year, they celebrate their 40th year of carrying on like dust in the wind, and the band’s original lineup is more or less still intact, too. The last batch of new music they put out was in 2000, but who are we kidding? Wheatheads want to hear the hits—which they’ll no doubt deliver, for free, on Wednesday. (July 10, 5 PM, free, Empire State Plaza, Albany, 474-5987)
