Mac Miller

by Metroland Staff on July 18, 2013

UPSTATE CONCERT HALL, SATURDAY

In his early career—like two years ago—21-year-old Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller often garnered the not-so-flattering tag “frat rap.” His new record Watching Movies with the Sound Off is a strong move into indie rap, enlisting producers like Diplo, Flying Lotus, Clams Casino and Pharell Williams to provide beats and making space for guest rappers like Earl Sweatshirt, Action Bronson, Schoolboy Q and Tyler the Creator. Joining Miller on this tour (which previously featured Earl and Chance the Rapper) are Vince Staples and the Internet. (July 20, 8 PM, $32, 1208 Route 146, Clifton Park, 371-0012)
