Enso String Quartet

by The Staff on August 22, 2013

If you’ve noticed more music by Benjamin Britten and Giuseppe Verdi being performed this summer, that’s because it’s the centennial of the birth of England’s Britten, and the bicentennial of the birth of Italy’s Verdi.

The Enso String Quartet will celebrate both composers in two concerts this weekend, first at the West Kortright Centre and then, the next day, at the Maverick Concert Hall. They will be performing Britten’s String Quartet No. 2 and Verdi’s String Quartet in E Minor, and, because he’s always in season, Mozart’s String Quartet in C Major (“Dissonant”).

Enso String Quartet will perform Saturday (Aug. 24) at 8 PM at the West Kortright Centre (49 West Kortright Church Road, East Meredith). Tickets are $23, $20 members and $11 for kids under 19. For more info, call (607) 278-5454. The next day (Sunday, Aug. 25) they will perform at 4 PM at the Maverick Concert Hall (120 Maverick Road, Woodstock). Tickets are $25 and $40. For more info, call (845) 679-8217.
