It’s time again for the region’s annual two-day highland spectacular. The Capital District Scottish Games offer music and sports competitions at their finest: the Northeastern U.S. Pipe & Drum Championships, Northeastern U.S. Highland Dance Championship, the Nor’Easter Cup and the Highland Athletics Championship.
Of course there will be kids activities (admission is free for ages 12 and under), vendors selling food and drink, and a full slate of musical and dance performers, including the Brigadoons, the McKrells, Colin Grant Adams, Scotland’s own Manran (pictured), Aaron Dresher and the Braemar Highland Dancers.
The Capital District Scottish Games will be held Saturday (Aug. 31) and Sunday (Sept. 1) at the Altamont Fairgrounds (129 Grand Ave., Altamont). The gates will open at 8 AM Saturday and admission is $22; the gates open at 10 AM Sunday and admission is $12. For more info, including camping details, visit scotgames.com.
