Russell Peters

by The Staff on September 26, 2013

Russell Peters is a very funny man. It’s not just because he’s Canadian, but it probably helps. A critic for the Telegraph (UK) dubbed him the “globe-trotting future of stand-up.”

The same critic described Peters’ act as “fluent, funny and relaxed. Much of the material is made up of brazen repartee with whoever attracts his eye, but that’s fine when it’s this assured.”

A critic for the Chicago Tribune noted that Indian-Canadian Peters can tread into areas other (i.e., white male) comedians cannot: “Peters, whose nonwhite bona fides mean he also can get away with mocking a Nigerian accent right in the face of a Nigerian, walks a careful line between promoting new-world secularism and mocking assimilation.”

This show will probably have as multiculti an audience as any in recent memory.

Russell Peters will perform tonight (Thursday, Sept. 26) at 7:30 PM at the Palace Theatre (19 Clinton Ave., Albany). Tickets are $28-$98. For more info, call 465-4663.
