American Storytellers

by The Staff on October 3, 2013

The new exhibit at Saratoga Arts’ Arts Center Gallery, American Storytellers, showcases work by Brian Cirmo (pictured) and Jill Shoffiett. It’s an exploration of “impressions of society and tales of American identity.”

Shoffiett’s vision is interior and fantastic: She “depicts scenes of an imaginary South—an escape to a private, delirious utopia.” Cirmo “creates an environment where the protagonist . . . loses all sense of time in a dystopian landscape while searching for the meaning of being American.”

American Storytellers: Brian Cirmo and Jill Shoffiett opens Saturday (Oct. 5) and runs through Nov. 9 at Saratoga Arts’ Arts Center Gallery (320 Broadway, Saratoga Springs). On Saturday, there will be a discussion with the artists at 5:30 PM, followed by an opening reception from 6 to 8 PM. For more info, call Saratoga Arts at 584-4132.
