Both are rock legends. One’s a pop songwriter regarded as the form’s most brilliant, the other a virtuoso guitarist par excellence. But the average fan wouldn’t necessarily think of Brian Wilson and Jeff Beck as kindred musical spirits.
For Wilson’s new solo record, the Beach Boy enlisted help from his former bandmates Al Jardine and David Marks, as well as Beck. The forthcoming project is rumored to be three-albums long: one a set of new pop tunes, one a set of instrumentals, and a third just referred to as “the suite.” The accompanying tour will feature some combination thereof, as well as sets spotlighting both individuals.
Brian Wilson and Jeff Beck will play the Palace Theatre (19 Clinton Ave., Albany) on Tuesday (Oct. 8) at 8 PM. Tickets are $45-$115. Call 465-3334 for more info.
