Whenever the opportunity arises to see an Alfred Hitchcock film on the big screen on glorious 35MM film, avail yourself of it. We direct your attention to Albany’s Palace Theatre, where, in a pre-Halloween treat on Monday evening, you can see The Birds.
Based on a short story by Daphne du Maurier, The Birds tells the unpleasant story of what happens when our avian friends turn on us. Even more than Psycho, The Birds makes for a still- unsettling moviegoing experience. This is thanks to the way Hitchcock marries his trademark mastery of suspense with an avant-garde sensibility. From the electronic score to the creepy special effects and the nasty, bloody violence, this is the ultimate environmental horror film.
The Birds will be screened Monday (Oct. 28) at 7 PM at the Palace Theatre (19 Clinton Ave., Albany). Tickets are $5 adults and $3 kids. For more info, call 465-3334.
