Brave New Dances—performances of works-in-progress by Maude Baum and Company Dance Theatre—are an Albany tradition. But it’s a tradition that remains fresh because of an ever-evolving format and the continual introduction of new ideas.
This weekend (Friday through Sunday), Maude Baum and Company will build on the innovations of last year’s shows, which were more interactive and made the audience an even more integral part of the process. And there’s a special guest who was supposed to be part of last year’s Brave New Dances: former longtime company member and choreographer Vanessa Paige. Paige, who directs Soundance in New York City, had to cancel because of Superstorm Sandy.
The other dancer-choreographers in the show are Whitney Forbes, Zoe Drori, Diane DeGroat and company founder-director Maude Baum.
Brave New Dances will be presented tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 8) at 7 PM, Saturday (Nov. 9) at 2 and 7 PM, and Sunday (Nov. 10) at 7 PM in the eba Theater (Lark Street and Hudson Avenue, Albany). Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 seniors and students, and $6 for eba students. For tickets and info, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 465-9916.
