The last time Brooklyn beat duo Break Science were on Pearl Street, they were playing the big room—the really big room. It was Halloween and Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee were backing Pretty Lights at the Times Union Center, Sesame Street costumes and all. This time around, they’re moving it down the block, serving up heavy break beats, bass drops and dub scapes at the Hollow.
Seven Bridges is the group’s new record, available for free on their label’s site, prettylightsmusic.com. They’ll be joined for this winter tour by Paul Basic (pictured), another Pretty Lights-affiliated electronic artist who, like Deitch, has a foundation on the drum set. Transient Horizons is Basic’s latest, also free.
You know that when musicians are willing to give it away for free it’s all in service to the live show. Go get that bass in your body.
Break Science and Paul Basic will play the Hollow Bar (79 N. Pearl St., Albany) on Wednesday (Jan. 22) at 8 PM. Tickets are $12-$15. Call 426-8550 for more info.
