Guy Davis is a bluesman. Simple as that. Acoustic guitar, three chords and the human voice. It’s worked for a century, and it’s all Davis has needed to land himself on Prairie Home Companion, Mountain Stage, The World Café and Late Night With Conan O’Brien.
One part tradition preservationist, Davis lists Blind Willie McTell, Skip James and Mississippi John Hurt as influences, he also has no shortage of original material. Juba Dance is the most recent of the 61-year-old’s 15 records.
Guy Davis will play the Linda (339 Central Ave., Albany) tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 17) at 8 PM. Tickets are $20. Call 465-5233 for more info.
