Swear and Shake

by The Staff on January 16, 2014

Club Helsinki, Sunday

The name of this SUNY Purchase-born neo-folk quartet functions as a good shorthand for how one of their better shows might come off. To wit: “How was that concert you went to last night?” “Hot damn! I swearin’ and shakin’!” But there’s a second more intimate meaning that is equally fitting to the band’s sound and usually requires spit on the palms, the mixing of blood or a promise bound by honor. Either way, these guys and girl pick and sing pretty good. (Jan. 19, 8 PM, $12, 405 Columbia St., Hudson, 828-4800)
