The Esther Massry Gallery opens its first show of 2014 with a selection of works from the 1960s and ’70s by photographer Judy Linn, a Hudson Valley resident and member of the Vassar College faculty. The main part of the show consists of photos Linn took of punk artist and songwriter Patti Smith in New York City, in the years before Smith became an icon. The other part of the show is a collection of newspaper photos Linn took in the (segregated) Detroit suburbs when she was first starting out.
