Country music singer Kathy Mattea walks the line. But it’s a different one than Johnny did. Mattea has been named female vocalist of the year twice by the Country Music Association. Yet, despite her success in the contemporary industry, she’d stayed true to the traditional sounds of Nashville.
Hits like “Where’ve You Been?,” “455 Rocket” and “Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses” are both catchy and rooted in an easygoing West Virginia folk sensibility. She has 14 albums to her name, the most recent of which was 2012’s Calling Me Home.
Kathy Mattea will play the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall (2nd and State streets, Troy) on Saturday (Feb. 1) at 8 PM. Tickets are $20-$29. Call 273-0038 for more info.
