The latest exhibition in the Norman Rockwell Museum’s Distinguished Illustrator Series, Baseball, Rodeos and Automobiles: The Art of Murray Tinkelman, opens this weekend. As suggested by the show’s title, Tinkelman is one of the leading illustrators to have continued Norman Rockwell’s interest in all-American subjects. NRM chief curator Stephanie Plunkett organized the show, and says that the “graphic clarity and beauty of his art is captivating.”
Pictured is Stars & Stripes (Cody Stampede, 4th of July).
Baseball, Rodeos and Automobiles: The Art of Murray Tinkelman opens Saturday (March 29) at the Norman Rockwell Museum (Route 183, Stockbridge, Mass.) and will remain on view through June 15. There will be an Art Talk with Murray Tinkelman on April 5 at 2 PM; it is free with museum admission. For more info, visit nrm.org or call (413) 298-4100.
