The Albany Symphony and maestro David Alan Miller want to transport you to exotic lands this Saturday at the Palace with Rimsky-Korsakov’s sweeping, romantic Scheherazade, an Arabian tale with a decidedly Russian flavor.
Before that, however, they’ll premiere Caramore’s Summer, a new work by composer Chen Yi. And they’ll also perform one of the great 20th-century American orchestral works, Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto. The soloist on the Barber will be child-prodigy-turned-young-virtuoso Simone Porter (pictured).
The Albany Symphony Orchestra will perform Saturday (April 12) at 7:30 PM at the Palace Theatre (19 Clinton Ave., Albany). Tickets are $19 to $59. For tickets and info, call 694-3300.
