Hilary Hahn

by The Staff on April 10, 2014

Widely acclaimed as one of the greatest living violinists, Hilary Hahn begins an eight-city tour Wednesday night in Troy with a recital that’s the last of this season’s Troy Chromatic Concerts.

For this recital she will be accompanied by pianist Cory Smythe. They will perform two parts of the recently commissioned In 27 Pieces: The Hilary Hahn Encores Project, which was released on CD by Deutsche Grammophon in fall 2013. There also will be music by Mozart, Schubert, Telemann and Schoenberg.

The critic for the (Portland) Oregonian raved about Hahn’s performance with the Oregon Symphony last month: “Technically, she was mesmerizing . . . with [a] strong, lustrous tone and intonation so solid I was tempted to open the violin tuner app on my phone to have such a wonder confirmed.”

Hilary Hahn will perform Wednesday (April 16) at 7:30 PM at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall (2nd and State streets, Troy). Tickets are $50 and $40. For more info, call the box office at 273-0038.
