Jay Farrar

by The Staff on May 8, 2014 · 0 comments

Club Helsinki, Sunday

Jay Farrar owns the Western shirt. No, you misunderstand. Lots of alt-country guys own a Western shirt, but the Uncle Tupelo founder really owns it. And the aviators and goatee to match. No matter that he’s always lived a bit in the shadow of former bandmate Jeff Tweedy. This kind of relative obscurity has always been good singer-songwriters—not to mention their drinking habits. Farrar’s main gig these days is Son Volt but, for this tour, he’s teamed up with Gary Hunt for a little duo action. Peter Bruntnell will open. (May 11, 8 PM, $20, 405 Columbia St., Hudson, 828-4800)
