Upstate Concert Hall, Saturday

The midwestern hip-hop duo Atmosphere dropped their new album, Southsiders, early last month and debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at number eight. Rapper Slug and DJ/producer Ant are known for their emphatic and relaxed sound, reminiscent of hip-hop’s early roots, which makes sense since Slug has been part of Atmosphere for 25 years. The 20-track album layers instrumentals over simple beats, which earned them praise from Consequence of Sound, who complimented the group’s ability to stay true to their origins while the hip-hop scene continues to change around them. The show will also feature special guests Prof and Dem Atlas. (June 7, 8 PM, $20-$22, 1208 Rte 146, Clifton Park, 371-0012)
