It’s always good to see a cross-over artist finally getting his due. Having formerly risen to prominence playing the lead character Mr. Conductor on the PBS children’s show Shining Time Station in the mid-’80s, 73-year-old Richard “Ringo Starr” Starkey is making middle-aged and elderly women scream with delight, since taking up the drums with his All-Starr Band.
The Liverpool-born rock and roller is on something of a “British invasion”—if we might coin the term—bringing his newfangled brand of up-tempo pop music based on the American blues to a bunch of American venues. Ringo 2012 was his most recent release.
Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band will play the Palace Theatre (19 Clinton Ave., Albany) on Tuesday (June 10) at 8 PM. Tickets are $62-$102. Call 465-3334 for more info.
