We thought this one might have been a joke back when the lineup was first released. Every year, the Internet gleefully photoshops Coachella posters to insert dream-team line-ups. But the Hudson Music Project is for real. And it’s barely an hour away.
Hosted at the site of Woodstock 94, the innaugural event appears to be a deft balance of small-fest target-curation with big-fest concept and production. There’s rock, there’s hip-hop, there’s EDM—in logical proportion and scheduling. Two stages, two music tents, camping, glamping and art installations in between. Oh yeah, and they’ll be screening the World Cup final.
Who’s playing? Ahem: Kendrick Lamar (pictured), the Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Bassnectar, STS9, Flying Lotus, Moby, Four Tet, Atmosphere, Matt and Kim, Bonobo, Dr. Dog, Strfkr, Big Gigantic, Gold Panda, Yacht, Jon Hopkins, the Range, SZA, Action Bronson, Flatbush Zombies, Tokimonsta, Cults, AarabMuzik, !!!, etc., etc., et-f-ing-cetera.
The Hudson Music Project comes to Winston Farm (Saugerties) Friday-Sunday (July 11 to 13). Ticket prices vary according to package. More info is available at hudsonmusicproject.com.
