Old Joy

Two old friends—one a domestic type (Mark, played by Daniel London); the other a free-living hippie type (Kurt, played by alt-country musician Will Oldham)—reunite for a camping weekend in the Oregon mountains, and are forced by their confines to confront their differences. That’s the nutshell synopsis of Kelly Reichardt’s Old Joy, a spare and moving film that snuck onto a number of critics year-end lists for 2006. Oldham, reportedly, is exceptional in his first starring role; and the film, reportedly, is a hushed look into the human drama.

Old Joy will be screened at Time and Space Limited (434 Columbia St., Hudson) tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday (Feb. 2-3) at 7:30 PM, and Sunday (Feb. 3) at 5 PM. An additional screening is scheduled for Feb. 10 at 5:45 PM. Tickets are $7, $5 for students and members. For more information, call 822-8448.
