Laurel and Hardy

More than the work of any other classic-era comedians, the films of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy still kill audiences today. Seriously—they’re irresistible. It’s a combination of expertly created characters, brilliant timing and a willingness to dive headfirst into surrealism. You can check this out for yourself on Saturday night at MASS MoCA, when Double Whoopee (with a young Jean Harlow) and Wrong Again are screened on the “largest outdoor movie screen in the Berkshires.”

Steven Bernstein’s Millennial Territory Orchestra will accompany the films live. Bernstein was musical director for Robert Altman’s superb Kansas City, so he knows a thing or two about music and movies.

The Millennial Territory Orchestra will perform for a screening of Laurel and Hardy films on Saturday (Aug. 18) at 8:30 PM at MASS MoCA (86 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass.). Tickets are $18. For more info, call (413) 662-2111.
