Church and Main, 49 Church St., Canajoharie, 673-2433. Chef Michael Lapi and his co-owner wife, Robyn Dousharm, offer a menu of local meat and produce, expertly and creatively prepared in a delightfully old-fashioned setting. Serving dinner Thu-Sun from 5. MC, V. www.churchnmain.com.

The Village Oven, 30 Main St., West Stockbridge, Mass. (413) 232-7269. A friendly, casual restaurant serving pizza and pasta, panini and salads—with a menu of fancier items for those with more ambitious appetites. Serving Thu-Mon noon-9. MC, V.

Chianti il Ristoranti, 208 South Broadway, Saratoga Springs, 580-0025. An inventive menu of northern Italian fare from chef Fabrizio Bazzani, presented in David Zecchini’s handsome dining rooms. Serving dinner daily from 5:30. AE, D, MC, V.

The Rose and Kettle, 4 Lancaster St., Cherry Valley, (607) 264-3078. Outstanding food and service in a hundred-year-old house in the midst of a storybook village, featuring a changing menu of locally obtained meats and produce. Vico Restaurant & Bar, 136 Warren St., Hudson, 828-6529. Tuscan-inspired dining, the legacy of chef-owner Mark Ganem’s time in Italy. Warm ambiance, excellent pasta and a killer bistecca Fiorentina.
