Christmas Show

Caffe Lena, WednesdayLet’s get this straight. Caffe Lena’s been around forever. The club has played host to every big name in folk music since the 1960s, and Melanie just made her debut at the place last summer? Woodstock Melanie? Now that’s peculiar. Our favorite flower child performed a couple of terrific sets at the New York State Museum earlier this year, too, making her (sort of) an honorary local artist. (Another local connection: Her sister owns a cool antiques store in Fort Ann, in case you still need to do some shopping.) Wednesday, she’s bringing her brand-new Christmas show to Saratoga. Word has it that the performance is going to be recorded, too, but don’t wait for the eventual CD. Gregarious, charming and still possessed of that sexy sandpaper voice, Melanie is likely to be the embodiment of holiday cheer. (Dec. 22, 7:30 PM, $30, 47 Phila St., Saratoga Springs, 583-0022.)
