Cinema

In addition to the commercial theaters listed below, look for festivals, film series at area colleges, screenings of film shorts at various regional venues, and screenings of second-run features, cult flicks and classic films at Proctor’s Theatre in Schenectady (346-6204), TSL Warehouse in Hudson (822-8448) and the Saratoga Film Forum in Saratoga Springs (584-FILM).

Aimie’s Dinner and Movie

Cinema Art Theatre
289 River St., Troy, 274-6676, 274-7708. The area’s only adult-movie theater.

Crandall Theatre Main Street
, Chatham, 392-3331. Second-run theater and home of the annual FilmColumbia festival.

Hoyts Crossgates Cinema
18 Crossgates Mall, 456-0775. The Godzilla of Capital Region movie theaters features a whopping 18 screens, arena-style seating and late-night showtimes on weekends.

Hoyts Crossgates Cinema 12
Crossgates Mall, 456-5678. An auxiliary to the mall’s 18-screen megaplex, this theater offers aging first-run films and occasional premiere engagements of limited-release movies.

Hoyts Aviation Cinema

Madison Theatre

Off-Broadway Theatre & Grille
86 Congress St., Saratoga Springs, 587-3456. Features recent films, while serving up a full dinner menu and full bar at restaurant-like booths and tables. Reservations required on weekends.

Scotia Cinema
117 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, 346-5055. An old-fashioned theater showing second-run flicks.

Sony Rotterdam Square 6

Spectrum 7 Theatre
s 290 Delaware Ave., Albany, 449-8995. Seven screens of first-run art films and big Hollywood releases, plus occasional film festivals and the hands-down best snack bar in the area.

Triplex Cinema
(70 Railroad St., Great Barrington, Mass., 413-528-8885). An arthouse multiplex in Massachusetts’ Berkshire County.
