The Factory Eatery & Spirits, 20 Prospect St., Ballston Spa, 885-0500. This neighborhood joint-cum-sports bar has a varied, casual menu with burgers, sandwiches, salads, a few choice entrées, and a very welcoming personality. Serving breakfast Mon-Fri 8-11, Sat-Sun 8-1, lunch and dinner daily 11-midnight. MC, V.

Spa Brauhaus, 200 E. High St., Ballston Spa, 885-4311. Classic German fare, including excellent sauerbraten and a sausage- and smoked-pork-intense schlacht platter, at a welcoming mainstay that has thrives for over half a century. Serving dinner 4-9 Wed-Sat, 12-8 Sun. CB, DC, MC, V.

Deacon Blues, 806 25th St., Watervliet, 273-9888. Burgers, sandwiches and great, thin-crust pizza are served along with full dinners at this long-lived (27 years!) neighborhood eatery. Serving lunch and dinner Tue-Thu 11-11, Fri-Sat 11-11:30. AE, MC, V.

The Londonderry Café, Stuyvesant Plaza, Albany, 489-4288. A varied menu of inventive continental items is offered, with sandwiches galore for lunch and dinner entrées that include many seafood specials. Dine outside when the weather is good. Rita’s Lebanese Café, 188 N. Allen St., Albany, 437-3537. A concise menu of compelling Lebanese fare, with hummus and falafel alongside more enterprising dishes like kibbeh sineyeh. Serving Tue-Wed 11-6, Thu-Sat 11-9. AE, D, MC, V.

The Washington Tavern, 250 Western Ave., Albany, 427-0091. Classic pub fare served in a newly refurbished mainstay of Albany’s uptown area. This is the place for a burger and beer. Serving daily 11:30 AM-1 AM. AE, MC, V.
