Never was the philosophy of rock & roll music more succinctly stated. And never has a single felt more like a Jeopardy response to a band’s name: What is “We Are Young,” Alex? Thanks to a major boost from Kanye West producer Jeff Bhasker, who lent his touch to the band’s sophomore record Some Nights, the track has launched the band from virtual unknowns to the ubiquitous voice of Super Bowl commercials, Wrestlemania promotions and Glee treatments. Their massively sold-out stop at Northern Lights on April 27 was a strong case that there’s more where that came from, as the band, fronted by Nate Ruess, conjured their best Queen-meets-Panic! at the Disco.
