Deer Tick

by Metroland Staff on October 11, 2012

Starting up in 2004 as the solo project of lead guitarist and singer-song writer John McCauley, Deer Tick have transitioned from a mishmash of band mates into the mastery of what makes up the five-piece band today. While they were described by Rolling Stone in 2009 as the “country-rock breakthrough of the year,” Deer Tick’s repertoire is not short of folk, blues or punk. Their fourth album Divine Providence breaks away from the more sedated folk roots of their debut album War Elephant and takes on a louder, faster-paced punk-rock feel, channeling the Ramones in singles like “Let’s All Go to the Bar.” (Oct. 13, 8 PM, $20, 63 Putnam St., Saratoga Springs, 584-8066)
